Let's be honest, most flexible panels do not perform as well as they say and certainly not as well as rigid panels. However, sometimes you just need more solar and the application area won't accomodate rigid panels. So, sometimes, something is better than nothing. They are also more readily availlable in different/smaller sizes, are easier to ship and store, and just look sleek and cool. While we're at it, let's talk about "walk on" panels. They do exist, but these are not them and neither are the ones you will find listed on most every other site claiming they are. If you truly need "walk on" panels, it's best to buy them directly from a reputable manufacturer (look to who the high end builders use). Otherwise, put a panel everywhere you can without walking on them.
CIGS panels are the latest and greatest innovation in the flexible panel space. They are easily storable and deployable for those situations where you just need more power feeding your hungry system. They are also easily conformed to curved surfaces and typically come in longer, but thinner (less wide) sizes. They can be permenantly installed on most surfaces. We can't speak to the effectiveness of the "peel and stick" component of this product as far as long term adhesion goes, but they are designed for roodtop applications.
